A new league where teams play for the planet and have the chance to win funding to scale their Purpose Projects. In Detroit, the League is hosted by Detroit City FC, and game nights typically share the schedule with the DCFC Women PASL team, making it a night dedicated to Detroit women in football.

Saudi Sports for All hosted the first ever Global Goals World Cup Saudi Arabia over a weekend in September, with 26 all-female teams advocating for social and environmental sustainability through sport.

The League is playful, purpose-driven, and a physically active network for all women who want to play for the world they want to live in.

On October 13, 2018 twenty-four teams from across South Africa and abroad took part in the first South African Global Goals World Cup: GGWCUP Johannesburg. Teams from local qualifier tournaments in Limpopo, Kwa-Zulu Natal, The Free State and Gauging made their way to Johannesburg.

GGWCUP East Africa 2020: 34 teams played for the Global Goals on International Women’s Day (March 8th) at the KCCA StarTimes Stadium Lugogo, Kampala, Uganda.

Mariam Mpaata organized the GGWCUP in Kampala, partnering with Afrika Sports Foundation Centre and FUFA. We first met Mariam in 2017 at the GGWCUP Nairobi, and again in 2018 when her team, Soccer Divas, competed at GGWCUP Johannesburg.

The Global Goals World Cup in Mumbai, India marked our 10th GGWCUP anniversary – and we got to celebrate with twenty-four unique teams. We were absolutely blown away by the energy and passion.

Global Goals World Cup for the first time in Czechia hosted by The Association of Social Responsibility, the largest initiative of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Czechia.

“Visited Gredos San Diego schools (ages 5-12), reaching 1,000+ students and teachers. Each child got a plant, and classes received extras. We discussed Global Goal 15, other goals, and environmental respect (animals, water, recycling). Younger children learned about equality and respect (boys & girls). A positive and rewarding experience!”

Team Kafo from Saudi Arabia secured an impressive second-place finish at the 2021 GGWCUP Finals held in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Formed in 2019, the team brings together students and young professionals aged 22-26. Their journey to the finals began with a victory at the inaugural GGWCUP Saudi Arabia, hosted by the Saudi Sports for All Federation in September 2021.

Two all-female teams, mostly refugees, compete in the Global Goals World Cup tournament, defying restrictions in Jordan. As Fly On The Wall discovers, their fight for gender equality, both on and off the pitch, is an inspiring story.

Historic Debut in Medellín. The Global Goals World Cup (GGWCUP) arrived for the first time in Medellín, Colombia, marking its Latin American debut in April 2023. Nineteen teams competed in the tournament, with the winning team, Malala FC, taking home the championship while also playing for Global Goal 5. Their victory earned them a trip to the international GGWCUP Finals in Saudi Arabia in 2024. Impact Hub Medellín hosted the tournament

Six Asylum United teams, representing refugees from six different camps, joined the 120-team competition at Roskilde Music Festival 2013.

The 16th GGWCUP held in Amman, Jordan in May 2021 was the first Global Goals World Cup (GGWCUP) held in the Middle East in Arabic. The tournament was created in partnership with local host Rise for Good.

The second GGWCUP in NYC was played at the Brooklyn Expo Center with 24 teams! Opening speech by HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau & Victor Ochen on the ref team.

Our Coach Program positions female coaches as key figures to engage more women in physical activity.

Strong female coaches and a new approach to football using the Global Goals can bridge the gap and activate women currently far removed from the sport.

In Copenhagen 2019 we introduced the #SustainifyMyUniform Challenge. So not only did we reward your creative STYLE - we also encouraged all teams to create sustainable uniforms by recycle, up-cycling or using sustainable materials to imagine a future of sustainable sports fashion.

Tackling taboos in India, Mission SanScar uses behavioral programs to educate girls about puberty, hygiene, and self-care during menstruation. Team SanScar played in the GGECUP India 2019.

Artist and social activist Rouble Nagi is using the healing power of art to enliven Maharashtra's slums and educate children. From GGWCUP Mumbai 2019.

Third Global Goals World Cup Finals in NYC during UNGA week. We transformed SAP NextGen's event space on the 48th floor into a sky-high soccer field. HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway officiated as a referee during the tournament.

It all started with one man and his three skateboards on the streets of Kabul in 2007. His idea became Skateistan, the first international development initiative to combine skateboarding with educational outcomes. Although it started in Afghanistan, Skateistan now runs in Cambodia and South Africa too, reaching thousands of children and youth.

Sustainable Mindz hosted the the 2018 Global Goals World Cup during The Year of Zayed. They envisions a world empowered for positive change and their platform connects individuals and organizations to create a better future.

In the GGWCUP team Myna Bol played for Global Goal 6 Clean Water & Sanitation. The oldest team member was 51 years old and the team won for most original style & attitude February 2nd 2019 in Mumbai.

28 teams played. Drummer Ihan Haydar kicked off the tournament with her anthem. Actor Nicolay Coster-Waldau and peacekeeper Victor Ochen served as referees.

UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Nikolaj Coster-Waldau talks to GGWCUP team Soccer Divas from Mombasa about the role of sport and women in creating peace and justice. The team played in the GGWCUP Nairobi 2017 and again in Johannesburg in 2018.

In 2011, we established Asylum United: a weekly soccer practice for refugee women living in asylum camps in Denmark who attend games and tournaments on a national level.

Celebrating the joy of football with a twist. At the recent Sensational Football tournament at Roskilde Festival an amazing 60.000 DKK was collected for a bus that will be used for transporting football loving girls in Afghanistan to and from practice.

120 teams battled it out over 3 days at the Roskilde Music Festival. The exciting competition took place during the warmup period at the City Center West camp area. Danish national football player Christian Eriksen and handball legend Mikkel Hansen refereed some of the games.
